Abstract

Women entrepreneurs are important trope in any emergent country, mainly in the terms of their responsibility to social- financial expansion in recent years, even among the developed countries like USA and Canada, woman's responsibility in terms of their share in small business has been rising. In Ethiopia, women own the majority of micro and small enterprises. However, the number of successful women entrepreneurs is much lower than the number of men. The reasons are due to challenges that women primarily face including limited access to finances, lack of knowledge on feasible business development poor management and their need to shoulder household and family responsibilities. In this study, weighted ranking method is applied to rank the problems faced by women entrepreneurs in Jigjiga. It inferred that the most number of the respondents have given first rank for financial problems; the respondents have given second rank for the problem of self- sufficiency. The third rank was social problems. The fourth rank was economic problems. The fifth rank was problems of social justice followed by other problems.
